Environmental and Social Impact Assessment

Assessing the impacts of a project and obtaining project environmental approvals requires an understanding of the project, its context – including the specific requirements of the relevant jurisdiction – and the concerns and issues of the stakeholders. Our personnel have a depth of experience in this area, having been involved in ESIAs in more than 40 jurisdictions around the world reflecting a diversity of technical, natural, social and political contexts.

Due Diligence Assessments, Reviews & Audits

Our personnel specialise in undertaking due diligence assessments, reviews and audits of projects for a range of clients, including project financiers, potential company purchasers and project managers.

Strategic Advice

Addressing the environmental and social aspects of business is increasingly complex and we offer strategic advice in a number of areas, from permitting of specific projects through to determining global approaches to issues that affect facilities or assets across a number of geographies. This reflects our broad experience as practitioners, managers and field operators in complex technical, natural, social and political contexts that encompass a number of sectors, commodities and geographies, and our knowledge of potential pitfalls in addressing environmental and social issues.

Environmental Management

The term ‘environmental management’ covers a multitude of activities, from developing policies and management systems through to detailed environmental management plans (EMPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs), and the associated monitoring requirements, and their implementation in the field. We understand the differences between what the regulators need and what is most practical on the ground, between commitments that can and should be met and those that result in unrealistic expectations, and between monitoring programs that meet specific requirements and those that have a theoretical basis and may cost many times what is actually necessary.
